Thanks to the support of The Milagro Foundation, The Harmony Project, Little Kids Rock, LAUSD Arts Branch, and The Rosenthal Foundation, Carlos Santana Arts Academy has been able to provide an extensive music and dance program after school and during the school day. Every single child has the opportunity to engage in high quality standards based arts instruction. CSAA has been designated by LAUSD Arts Education Branch as the #1 elementary school in providing arts instruction.
During the school day---
Music Appreciation that includes basic sight reading, percussion, and singing is taught to all kinder and first grade students. Instrumental music including strings, winds, and brass is available to students in grades three, four, and five. Second, fourth and fifth grade students receive vocal music instruction on a rotating basis throughout the school year.
The LAUSD Arts Education Branch provides dance and music to selected classrooms on a rotation basis and this is augmented by guest artist who conduct lecture demonstration workshops and other presentations. Visual arts is provided through a partnership with California State University, Northridge. CSAA has also enjoyed extensive residencies with the Hammer Museum and The Getty Museum.
Dance offerings include, Hip Hop, Basic Ballet, and Folklorico. The music program includes, winds, brasses, guitar, and rock band as well as basic piano and an introduction to jazz. Students in the rock band receive vocal instruction.
Throughout the school year students perform and share their talents with the entire community. The Winter Holiday Festival and Spring Festival are wonderful opportunities for you to see CSAA students shine!
